| | Lately my love of Nakayoshi has been revitalized. It might be because I've been really into Michiyo Kikuta's series again. I finally caught up with Shoujo Tenshi Milcute, which I honestly believe is the most adorable thing in the world, and also I was really excited to see Ema Tooyama's new series. So I found it was something of a shock to see the above image on the Nakayoshi website. Although I had heard plans of a Shugo Chara! anime, this was the first time I had seen an image from the series which will air this October. To be honest I haven't read all the much of this series even though Del Rey licenced it quickly and volume one is already out in the US. But it's current one of- if not the most- popular series currently running in Nakayoshi. Despite only having four tankobon out in Japan (the fourth one comes out next month), Shugo Chara! is newest in a recent trend of Nakayoshi titles recieving anime adaptions (there was Sugar Sugar Rune, and Mamotte! Lollipop, then Ghost Hunt, and Kamichama Karin). Although, as I had mentioned previously, in a blog entry a while back, it was obivious that this series would have an anime adaption. It's popularity aside, Shugo Chara! was artist group Peach-Pit's first real attempt at shoujo and since all their other series saw anime versions, it stood a really good chance Shugo Chara! would as well. |
